Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, Rapidus Corporation is a semiconductor 
manufacturing company established to accelerate Japan’s domestic capability in advanced chip production. Formed with support from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Rapidus is focused on producing state-of-the-art logic semiconductors at the 2-nanometer node and beyond.
The company is developing advanced manufacturing processes, including extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography and cutting-edge packaging technologies. In partnership with global leaders such as IBM, Rapidus aims to establish a pilot production line in Chitose, Hokkaido, with volume production scheduled for later in the decade. It is the centerpiece of Japan’s strategy to reestablish a competitive presence in global semiconductor supply chains.
Markets served by Rapidus include high-performance computing, AI and machine learning, data centers, and telecommunications. The company’s mission supports national resilience, economic security, and the technological independence of Japanese and allied industries.
