Siemens has introduced Solido Characterizer software, an AI-powered semiconductor library characterization platform designed to accelerate Liberty file generation and support advanced semiconductor design workflows across multiple process nodes.

The software was developed to address increasing semiconductor design complexity associated with advanced process technologies, tighter electrical margins, larger corner counts, and evolving modeling standards such as Liberty Variation Format (LVF). Solido Characterizer is intended for foundries and internal chip development teams requiring scalable characterization workflows for production semiconductor libraries.

Solido Characterizer combines predictive AI technologies with Siemens’ Solido LibSPICE simulator to improve characterization throughput and reduce Liberty file generation timelines from weeks to days. According to Siemens, the platform delivers up to 7x greater throughput through a combination of AI-assisted characterization acceleration and simulation optimization technologies.

Siemens’ Solido Characterizer software is designed to accelerate semiconductor library characterization workflows using AI-assisted automation and advanced Liberty file generation techniques.

The platform also integrates with Solido Analytics to provide real-time quality assurance, workflow monitoring, debugging, and rerun management capabilities intended to streamline semiconductor characterization processes across multiple IP and design teams.

Siemens noted that Solido Characterizer integrates with its broader Solido Characterization Suite and Fuse EDA AI system to support generative and agentic AI workflows for semiconductor engineering environments.

“AI is redefining what is achievable across every dimension of semiconductor design, and characterization is one of the most transformative opportunities,” said Amit Gupta, chief AI strategy officer, senior vice president and general manager, Siemens EDA, Siemens Digital Industries Software. “With Solido Characterizer, we are delivering intelligent automation that fundamentally changes the economics of library development, enabling our customers to achieve levels of speed and precision that were simply not possible before. This positions engineering teams across every process node to innovate with confidence as the demands of modern semiconductor design continue to grow.”

The platform is designed to support characterization requirements ranging from mature semiconductor nodes through advanced process technologies while helping engineering teams improve turnaround time and maintain production-ready library accuracy.
